Report: Wind power provided 10% of Texas' total electricity in 2014
Wind energy provided 10.6% of Texas' total electricity in 2014, up from 6.2% in 2009, according to the Energy Information Administration. "The growth in wind generation is a result of new wind plants coming online and grid expansions that have allowed more wind power to flow through the system to consumers," the EIA said. Opinion: It's time for conservatives to rally behind clean energy
Many states are embracing clean energy, including wind energy and solar power -- and the time has come for Republicans to support it on a national scale as well, argues Michele Combs, president and founder of Young Conservatives for Energy Reform. Energy policy is a bipartisan issue, and many states with wind farms are traditionally red states, she writes. "Conservative states are benefiting from clean energy. So is the rest of the nation. Now is the time for Republicans to show national leadership on this winning issue," she writes. Breaking Energy (2/24)

Large-scale wind farms face challenges in Ohio, experts say
Ohio's decision to put its renewable energy targets on hold for a two-year period last summer combined with new rules limiting where large-scale wind farms can be built have resulted in challenges for the state's wind industry, say observers. "These policies are definitely not good for clean energy, but I wouldn't say it's a death blow at all," said Lake Erie Energy Development spokesman Eric Ritter.
