Report: Energy Dept. must contribute more to US energy growth
The Energy Department is falling behind the Interior Department and other federal agencies in examining and creating opportunities to expand the nation's energy resources on federal land, especially in terms of renewables, according to the National Academies of Sciences. The Energy Department "should perform a sensitivity study that illustrates the potential for wind development on [department]-managed lands that addresses federal incentives such as investment tax credits, production tax credits, and renewable energy credits," it said.

Trump administration seeks to review marine sanctuaries
The Commerce Department is set to conduct reviews of 11 marine sanctuaries and issue recommendations next month on whether to reduce or eliminate them as part of the administration's efforts to expand offshore energy development. "The American Wind Energy Association is not advocating for revisiting any [marine sanctuary] designations. In general, the designations have not been a barrier to offshore wind development," said American Wind Energy Association spokesman Evan Vaughan.
