Election 2004 Global Warming Challenge

Election 2004 Global Warming Challenge – Undo Global Warming

On November 2nd, millions of Americans will head to the polls to vote in one of the most important elections in decades. Most of you will cast votes for president, senator, representative and more. With Russia poised to ratify the Kyoto Protocol and the Climate Stewardship Act ready for a vote in Congress, those seeking national office must start addressing the real threat of global warming. As a report commissioned by the Defense Department outlined this year, climate change is not "just" an environmental threat; it poses a threat to our national security.

Enough Is Enough - Send Candidates a Message:
On an important issue like climate change, America's voters deserve candid talk and substantive action. Take the Election 2004 Global Warming Challenge and send a personal email to your candidates running for national political office - Democrats and Republicans, challengers and incumbents - challenging them to address global warming as they campaign for office.
Take action!

Your e-mail will be sent to:
- President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney
- Senators John Kerry and John Edwards
- the Republican National Committee
- the Democratic National Committee
- and major candidates for the U.S. Senate from your state

The Climate Stewardship Act Is Building Momentum:
Your Election 2004 Global Warming Challenge message will build support for our campaign to pass the Climate Stewardship Act, a bipartisan, common sense solution to the problem of climate change. Momentum behind the bill is building in Congress. John McCain (R-AZ), the bill's co-author, has said, "We've made a modest effort with this bill, but until enough citizens who are voters care, then these special interests will be able to block any meaningful policy change. It's as simple as that. The race is on."

Take Action:
Take the Election 2004 Global Warming Challenge and urge candidates for national office - incumbents and challengers alike - to make global warming solutions like the Climate Stewardship Act a priority after November's election and beyond.
