Australia has long been seen as one of the key emerging
markets for the wind power industry and in recent years has
lived up to that reputation. The federal government's Mandated
Renewable Energy Target (MRET) has been the major driving
force behind the country's wind development with the
installation of 380 MW from virtually nothing prior to the
legislation's introduction a few years ago. Last June the
government refused to increase MRET or enhance the
legislation for the foreseeable future. As a result...
