Threeway Weekend

Small Changes Add Up
If 10,000 Chicago Biters volunteer for just 10 hrs a year, their labor will be worth an estimated $1.8 mil - all devoted to helping people and the planet.

Cocktail Tidbit
On Earth Day, Apr. 22, 1970 (technically the second celebration), 20 mil Americans turned out to support a healthy environment. Last year, an estimated one bil peeps participated globally.

Looking for a little action on Earth Day? Keep it interesting, and celebrate three ways. Start with a Treetini (a basil, lemon, and vodka refresher) at bars Whiskey Blue, Whiskey Sky, or Mexx Kitchen, and support reforestation through Chicago-based Live It Green. Next, get off (your butt) and head outside Sat. to plant flowers, mulch trees, or just take a stroll at one of 25 Chicago Park District Earth Day events. Then keep up the good vibes Sun. with live music at the  Green Apple Festival. The lineup kicks off with kid-friendly Miss Lori Holton Nash, steers into soul/funk singer Meshell Ndegeocello, then, um, climaxes with headliner and guitar god Derek Trucks (who has a solar-powered recording studio at home, BTW). Triple the pleasure, triple the fun.

Wanna Try?
Whiskey Blue, Whiskey Sky, Mexx Kitchen; available through Apr. 30. Treetini cocktail, $14.
Chicago Park District Earth Day Celebrations; Apr. 19, check online for times and locations. Free.
Green Apple Festival; Lincoln Park Zoo; Apr. 20, 10:30 a.m.–6 p.m. Free.
