A Brady Brunch

Small Changes Add Up
If 10,000 Chicago Biters eat only raw foods for their next meal, we'll save almost enough energy to power two homes for a year.

Cocktail Tidbit
Despite its lasting impression on American pop culture, The Brady Bunch suffered poor ratings all five seasons.

Here’s the story of a lovely lady…or two: your mom and a girl named Karyn, aka Karyn Calabrese, local goddess of raw and vegan foods. This Mother’s Day - instead of playing Alice in the kitchen - treat Ma to a superdelish (and superhealthy) Sunday brunch at the funky Karyn’s Cooked in River North or cozy Karyn’s Raw in Lincoln Park. Coconut milk junkies that we are, we’ll be ordering up CM-soaked French toast stuffed with bananas. On the raw side, look for lots of inventive veggie dishes such as turnip “ravioli” stuffed with cashew-macademia puree at the Sunday brunch buffet, which changes weekly. Mom will approve – and that’s much more than a hunch.

Wanna Try?
Karyn's Cooked, 738 N. Wells St. b/t Chicago Ave. and Superior St. (312-587-1050). Brunch entrees, $9-$11.
Karyn’s Raw Vegan Gourmet, 1901 N. Halsted St. b/t Armitage Ave. and Willow St. (312-255-1590). Brunch buffet, $25.
