EPA proposes first national reporting on greenhouse gas emissions
June 9 is the deadline to comment on a new rule from EPA to inventory even more sources of carbon. The rule marks a step in the process to regulate the gas. Gas-fired power plants will have to comply with the new greenhouse gas reporting rule.

Verdict reached in Duke Energy clean air cases
A jury ruled in favor of Duke Energy on four of six projects involved in a lawsuit affecting the company's Midwest power plants. The jury ruled against the company on two Indiana projects.
House committee approves climate change bill
The House Energy and Commerce Committee voted 33-25 in favor of a climate change bill backed by Democrats. Ways and Means Committee is next to revie the bill for tax and trade implications.
Canada launches clean energy fund
The Canadian government launched a C$1billion Clean Energy Fund for clean energy technologies, including carbon capture and storage.
FERC OKs Exelon's hostile bid for NRG Energy
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission May 21 approved Exelon's proposal to buy power generator NRG Energy, a bid that NRG continues to reject as inadequate.
