OUTDOOR MOVIES Movie On Up If 10,000 Chicago Biters watch a movie on one big screen instead of their individual TVs for 2 hours, we'll save enough energy to project 7,000 feature-length films.
Photo by Scott Trotter Looking for a deluxe movie experience in the sky? Ain't nothin' wrong with that…just get up to Churchill Park each month for free outdoor summer movie screenings (first up: My Big Fat Greek Wedding). Arrive around 7:30 pm for front-row seats (BYO blanket), free popcorn, and preshow games like boccie and beanbag tosses from local fun-seller Cat and Mouse. 'Round the corner, grab salads/sammies from Hot Chocolate and finally get a piece of the pie, or, HC's Coffee Cocoa Nib milkshake...
Coming together to watch one large screen instead of a bunch of small ones saves energy - kinda like car pooling, plus, no cineplex means no overpumped A/C.
We've saved the date for Raiders of the Lost Ark on July 26 - a youngish Harry Ford? Yes, please.
