Note from Dan: My personal take on this is that we have plenty of available technology with which to replace oil, and ways to improve our transportation efficiency. I think we might be in for a rough ride while overall policy and market forces adapt to reality, but in the end we'll be past the oil habit. The question is whether we'll do so in time to sustain a livable climate on Earth.
