Last major U.S. factory making incandescent light bulbs closes

Last major U.S. factory making incandescent light bulbs closes
Virginia manufacturing plant will take its jobs to China, where making eco-friendly CFLs is cheaper.

Note from Dan:

This is NOT the kind of result I want when switching to a green economy. I have to wonder how much energy is really saved when you factor in the transportation costs to get the bulbs from China to the US.  It also particularly goes against my ideals to move jobs to another country.

Local manufacturing with as little shipping as possible is preferable in my estimation from an environmental and socially-responsible standpoint.

This is a glaring example of a major flaw in regulatory policy.

Thank you for reading,

Dan
