Taking Care of Business

By Joel Makower

As this is being written, we've just concluded hosting a webcast with Procter & Gamble, helping them introduce a new "sustainability vision." It's another leap forward in corporate leadership, a set of bold goals with tangible deadlines from the world's largest consumer packaged goods company.

You can get the main story here, along with my perspective here.

We'll be following up the story in the near future with P&G's answers to some of the many questions submitted by callers during today's webcast. And, of course, we'll be tracking P&G's progress in meeting its goals.

Next-gen Plastics: Our next webcast, on October 5, will tackle the topic of plastics -- specifically, new materials that are reducing the impacts of plastic in the waste stream. You'll hear from Metabolix, a leading developer of bioplastics made from plant-derived sugar; the German bioplastics firm FKuR; and UL Environment's green chemistry expert. The hourlong webcast is free, but registration is required and seating is limited. Register here.

We're Hiring! Are you a smart, fearless connector? Want to create amazing conferences? Come join the fast-growing (and fun!) GreenBiz team. We're looking for a Conference Manager, to be based in our Oakland, Calif. offices, to help lead our expanding line-up of conferences and events -- and soon! You can read more about it, and submit your application, here. (Please don't reply to this newsletter to express your interest.)

Look Who's Talking: Finally, if you haven't checked out the latest, greatest program and speaker roster for our upcoming GreenBiz Innovation Forum, I encourage you to do so. We've added to our expanding list of "innovisionaries": Bill McDonough, Janine Benyus, Tim O'Reilly, John Warner, Hunter Lovins, and Tom Wujec -- as well as innovation leaders from IDEO, Procter & Gamble, Steelcase, Unilever, Waste Management, Xerox PARC, and others. It's going to be a truly amazing and inspiring event. I hope you can make it. More information here.
