Despite President Obama's recent remarks on climate change during his inaugural address, the "fuse to the largest carbon bomb" on the planet - the Keystone XL pipeline - continues to move forward. That's why young people across the country are putting themselves on the line to take direct action to shut down this calamitous project. During my time at Truthout I've watched many of these young people - some of them my close friends - get arrested, harassed or worse while fighting to slow the rising tides which threaten my generation's future. I'm proud to see that many of those same activists share Truthout stories on social media and use our independent reporting to stay informed.
