President Obama is expected to announce important new plans to limit climate pollution and to boost renewable energy development and energy efficiency.Dear Daniel,

Over the weekend, President Obama announced he will unveil his second-term climate action plan at a speech scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

We don't yet know the full details of the President's plan. But in recent days, White House climate advisor Heather Zichal and other officials have outlined some of the main features.

The centerpiece of the plan is expected to be a proposal to limit carbon emissions from existing power plants, which currently emit about 40% of America's carbon pollution. The administration is already moving forward with strong standards to limit climate pollution from new power plants and has taken action to double fuel economy standards for passenger cars and trucks.

We also expect President Obama to announce plans to boost renewable energy development on federal land, put standards in place to drive innovation in energy efficiency, and take additional steps to prepare for many of the climate impacts we are already seeing.

This is a very big deal and we eagerly await the full details of President Obama's plan. We are already seeing the destructive impacts of climate change, and we have a moral obligation to future generations to take bold action now to prevent climate catastrophe.

This is an all-hands-on-deck moment and our entire team is coordinating with our colleagues throughout the environmental movement and will be paying close attention to President Obama's announcement. We will keep you updated and will be turning to you in the days ahead to help support the strongest possible climate plan with online actions, phone calls, and social media organizing.

In the meantime, thank you for your ongoing support. Together, we can take bold action to promote cleaner air and a safer climate future.

Fred Krupp Thank you,
