National Advocates Celebrate 500 Complete Streets Policies in the U.S. | Here's a big reason for celebration: the United States now has over 500 Complete Streets policies on the books. In other words, over 500 local governments, state governments and departments of transportation have decided that it's important to build roads that work well for everyone - whether you're walking, biking, taking transit or driving. Our President / CEO, Jeff Miller, joined the Complete Streets Coalition last week to celebrate the important milestone. |

| Upcoming Mutual Aid Calls
| Our Mutual Aid conference calls are a great forum to gain insight from your Alliance peers on the specific issues and topics that are important to your organization. Additionally, Advocacy Advance has been hosting a series of calls to help you direct funding sources toward investments in biking and walking.
All calls begin at 2 PM eastern time. -
- Health impact assessments (HIAs) can be important tools when planning for bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Planners and policymakers can use findings from HIAs to objectively predict the potential health effects of a project - such as a bike lane or sidewalk improvement - or a policy - such as a complete streets policy - before implementing. HIAs bring public health issues to the forefront in a decision-making process so that planners can more effectively address public health issues. Join this call to hear from health practitioners and advocates about how health impact assessments can boost your advocacy.
- September 25, 2:00 - 3:00 PM eastern: Forming Complete Streets Coalitions
- Cross-sector coalitions are powerful tools when working to pass and implement a state or local Complete Streets policy. By building partnerships with transit advocates, health stakeholders, economic development groups, environmental organizations and more, biking and walking advocates can multiply impact and ensure a great policy to build safe, accessible streets for all. Join this call to hear from national and local advocates with hands-on experience building winning coalitions for Complete Streets.
