Daniel -- Illinois has the opportunity to become one of the nation's leaders in adopting clean energy sources -- but right now, we need the state legislature to get on board. In the state's most recent legislative session, there was a proposal to strengthen the state's renewable energy standard, keeping Illinois on track to hit its goal of reaching 25 percent renewable energy by 2025. The session adjourned before they considered the proposal -- but that doesn't mean our work is over. We can't let this effort end there. If you want to support renewable energy resources in Illinois, add your name to OFA's petition, and call on the Illinois legislature to strengthen the renewable energy standard as soon as they reconvene. The biggest progress in renewable energy today is happening at the state level. While Congress has failed to act on climate issues, state and local governments, along with the EPA, have pushed ahead on renewable energy and other real attempts to combat climate change. Illinois is currently one of the leading states in the country for wind production, but the development of new wind and solar energy has ground to a halt in the last couple of years -- something this legislation can change by strengthening the incentive to buy renewable energy produced in-state. The legislature's got to make that fix -- we can't let them push this responsibility off for another year. Add your name to our petition, and tell state legislators that it's time for them to prioritize taking action for a cleaner Illinois: http://il.barackobama.com/Demand-Cleaner-Energy-For-Illinois Thanks, Ivan Ivan Frishberg Climate Campaign Manager Organizing for Action ---------------- The other side will spend millions to maintain the status quo.
