Subject: Update about 'Congress: Don’t let the dirty energy industry kill vital wind power incentives' on Change.org

Dear friend,
I’m writing to update you on our campaign to save a vital incentive program for wind power and other sources of renewable energy.
More than 50,000 of us urged Congress to renew the wind Production Tax Credit (PTC) before it expired on December 31. Thank you for your efforts. Unfortunately, Congress failed to act. The active pressure by the Koch Brothers and their allies in Congress stopped the extension before December 31, but it's not too late to renew this important program.
In fact, there is growing momentum across the country for an extension of the wind tax credit. A bipartisan coalition of Iowa state senators (26 Democrats and 15 Republicans) just called on Congress to extend the PTC.
Now, we will have a fresh opportunity to restore the PTC when Oregon’s U.S. Senator Ron Wyden, a strong supporter of clean energy, takes over as chair of the Senate Finance Committee in place of Senator Max Baucus (D-MT). (Senator Baucus is expected to be confirmed soon as the new ambassador to China.)
Will you help encourage Senator Wyden to introduce a bill to extend the renewable energy PTC right away when he becomes chair of the Senate Finance Committee?

The Senate Finance Committee is where the extension of the PTC is likely to start. Senator Wyden is a leading clean energy advocate. On December 19, he said this on the Senate floor:
"Letting the incentives for renewable energy resources get thrown overboard would be a huge mistake… that’s why it’s critical that Congress address and extend these key energy tax benefits as soon as possible."
With a clean energy advocate like Senator Wyden in his new position, we have a great opportunity to extend the wind PTC.
Congress is at a crossroads. Will they support policies and industries that increase carbon pollution, fueling climate-related disasters? Or, will they take action to promote safe, clean energy that will allow us to stabilize the climate?
As the incoming chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Wyden will play a major role in deciding which direction Congress goes. We need to let Sen. Wyden know that the future of our kids and and the stability of our climate are more important than the short-sighted demands of the Koch brothers.
Sen. Wyden is reportedly planning to make renewal of the PTC and other tax credits a top priority as Senate Finance Committee Chairman. (1). Let’s let him know that we stand behind him.
Tell Senator Wyden to restore the PTC right away:

Thank you for taking action today for our kids and grandkids!
Sincerely,
Senator Rob Hogg
