Wind farms in Texas and the Plains states generated a record-breaking amount of power on Nov. 17, according to the American Wind Energy Association. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas said at one point that day, wind generation reached 14.122 gigawatts.

NYSERDA submits draft plan to survey Long Island's offshore wind
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority issued a draft plan to study Long Island's potential for offshore wind development in terms of wind speed and ocean waves. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is expected to hold an offshore wind lease sale for the area on Dec. 15.

The Maryland Public Service Commission has begun reviewing a pair of proposals from US Wind and an unnamed company to build an offshore wind farm off the coast of the state. Goldwind wins turbine supply deal in Chile
Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology has agreed to supply Pacific Hydro with 32 2.5-megawatt turbines for an 82-MW project in Chile. The company said that it expects to begin delivering the machines next year.

The concrete benefits of wind power for farmers

Ford School of Public Policy recently took a deeper look at what land lease payments mean for farmers in a paper entitled, "Farming the wind: The impacts of wind energy on farming."
