Report: Clean energy enjoys broad bipartisan support in US
Sixty-percent of self-identifying "very conservative" voters -- and 95% of "total liberals" -- want the federal government to expand clean energy development, according to the Conservative Energy Network. Senior Director Mark Pischea said the industry has a lot of bipartisan support and should be able to get Congress to keep the wind energy Production Tax Credit and other tax credits.

IEA: World must update power market to facilitate wind development

Countries around the world must update their power market rules and structures to make the addition of more wind generation more feasible for the companies and utilities involved, according to the International Energy Agency. The agency said that renewables could account for 60% of all generation by 2040.

Xcel connects 200-MW N.D. project to grid
Xcel Energy has begun operations of a 200-megawatt wind farm in North Dakota featuring 100 Vestas V100 2-MW turbines, according to the company. The Courtenay wind farm was previously owned by Geronimo Energy.

Siemens UK factory prepares to ship first batch of offshore turbines
Siemens' new factory in Hull, England, is expected to ship out its first batch of offshore turbines today, according to the company. "In the coming years, the new offshore wind projects that this factory will supply could generate enough clean electricity to power over 3 million homes and businesses," said Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Greg Clark.

ScottishPower launches 69-MW wind farm in Scotland
ScottishPower Renewables has kicked off operations at a 69-megawatt wind farm in South Ayrshire, Scotland, according to the company. The Dersalloch project features 23 Siemens turbines.
