AWEA's Gohn: Ohio policies mean wind will continue to lag
Strong setback requirements mean that wind development will continue to lag in Ohio despite Gov. John Kasich's decision to veto a bill that would have made the state's Renewable Portfolio Standard optional for the next two years, according to American Wind Energy Association Eastern Region Policy Director Andrew Gohn. "There are tremendous opportunities either way but to maximize the opportunity Ohio needs to address setback reform," he said.

Opinion: Apex project in N.Y. won't interfere with nearby air base
Lighthouse Wind, a project under development in New York by Apex Clean Energy, won't have a negative impact on a near US Air Force base, writes John Szalasny. He argues that a bill proposed by Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., to stop wind farms from being built within 40 miles of US military facilities is unnecessary, especially since the Air Force, like other US military branches, has a goal to source 25% of its total electricity from renewables by 2025.
