Transparency, research and 3 other tips to build community rapportWind developers can build strong ties with the communities in which they're considering placing projects by being transparent, researching the area's stance on wind at length and by getting to know community stakeholders, writes Peter Gray, director of client services at Aileron Communications. He also suggests building relationships with local wind supporters and taking time to develop strategic responses to legitimate issues, like turbine siting and access roads.North American Windpower online (5/4)Copenhagen begins building 197.6-MW wind farm in TexasCopenhagen Infrastructure Partners has kicked off construction at the 197.6-megawatt Bearkat 1 wind farm in Glasscock County, Texas, after acquiring it from Tri Global Energy in July, said the companies. "We are very pleased to collaborate with CIP on this project and support them in achieving this important milestone," said Tri Global Chairman and CEO John Billingsley.ReNews.biz (U.K.) (5/4)Editorial: Bill to move Maine Aqua Ventus would be a huge mistakeThe Maine Legislature has already pushed away one $70 billion offshore wind farm and can't afford to do it again, which would happen if a bill is passed requiring a University of Maine-led consortium to move its Maine Aqua Ventus floating offshore wind pilot further out to sea, writes the editorial board of Bangor Daily News. "Lawmakers must reject LD 1262 or risk reminding the world that Maine is not serious about reducing energy prices and is not a place with consistent rules for doing business," it writes.Bangor Daily News (Maine) (free registration) (5/5)
