Kimberly-Clark to acquire 245 MW of wind in Texas, Okla.
Kimberly-Clark has signed a long-term power purchase agreement for 245 megawatts of wind energy from EDF Renewables' Rock Falls and Invenergy's Santa Rita wind farms in Oklahoma and Texas, respectively. The company said the deal would supply about one-third of its total electricity needs.

TransWest sets 2019 start date for 3,000-MW transmission line
TransWest Express will break ground on the 3,000-megawatt, 730-mile TransWest Express Transmission Project that will carry wind energy from Wyoming through Colorado and Utah to Nevada in 2019, according to the company. The line will allow utilities in California, Nevada and Arizona to access output from the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project in Wyoming.

RES breaks ground on 66-MW wind farm in Ohio
RES has broken ground on EDP Renewables' 30-turbine, 66-megawatt Hog Creek project in Hardin County, Ohio, according to the companies. The project, which has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, will create 235 temporary jobs.

Siemens Gamesa signs preliminary turbine supply deal with Windkauf
Siemens Gamesa has entered into a framework agreement with German firm Windkauf to supply wind farms in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with 20 to 30 turbines, according to the companies. "This framework agreement allows us to offer our customer the highly efficient Siemens Gamesa wind turbines at economic terms of delivery and service," said Windkauf Director Georg Persigehl.

ABS wraps up review of Aqua Ventus offshore wind pilot
ABS has completed a review of the hull/tower, safety, equipment and other technology that would be in use at the University of Maine-led 12-megawatt Aqua Ventus floating offshore wind pilot project proposed for Maine's coast, said the firm. "UMaine is pleased that its innovative design became the first floating wind turbine concrete semisubmersible hull to be reviewed by ABS, and found to meet the ABS requirements," added University of Maine Composites Center Executive Director and Principal Investigator Habib Dagher.

Conn. regulator approves 28 renewable energy PPAs
Connecticut's Public Utilities Regulatory Authority has approved renewable power purchase agreements between two utilities and 28 projects with a combined capacity of 658 megawatts since a 2016 bidding round. The deals include PPAs with four wind farms located outside the state.
