Avangrid Renewables, CIP unveil Mass. site for O&M facility
Vineyard Wind, made up of Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, has decided to build an operations and maintenance hub for their proposed 800-megawatt Vineyard offshore wind farm in Vineyard Haven, Mass., according to the companies. Once completed, the facility is expected to create 40 permanent jobs.

New interactive NRDC website tracks wind, other technologies
The Natural Resources Defense Council has introduced Revolution Now, an interactive website that tracks the development of wind, solar, LED light bulbs and electronic vehicles. The website will use public data to track deployment and cost decreases for the four categories.

Bay State to invest $2M in Mass. fish, whale protection measures
Orsted and Eversource, the duo behind the proposed 800-megawatt Bay State Wind offshore wind farm in Massachusetts, will invest $2 million in various research programs to protect fish and whale populations in their offshore wind zone. Bay State Wind said $1 million of that total would be directed toward research efforts to address the concerns of fishing groups.

    Acciona Energy plans 144.9-MW project in Texas
    Acciona Energy will build a 144.9-megawatt project in Cameron County, Texas, dubbed Palmas Atlas that will feature 46 AW125/3150 turbines from Nordex, according to the company. CEO Rafael Mateo said Acciona is "too concentrated in Spain" and is exploring other markets.

    Vattenfall installs first turbine at North Sea offshore wind site
    Vattenfall said it has erected the first of 11 turbines at the European Offshore Wind Deployment Center off the coast of Scotland in the North Sea. "The installation of the first of these powerful turbines at Aberdeen Bay is another milestone in Scotland's renewables story," said WWF Scotland Acting Head of Policy Gina Hanrahan.

    Tenn. House advances new regulations for wind development
    The Tennessee House of Representatives has advanced a bill that would establish new rules for wind development and passed it to the state Senate for review. Among other provisions, the bill would require turbines to be set five times their height away from property lines.
