Google, like Apple, has filed a public comment objecting to an Environmental Protection Agency proposal to repeal the Clean Power Plan. Google says it makes a strong economic argument for the CPP, which would encourage ongoing investments in renewables and the jobs they create.

Opinion: Don't let N.Y. bill cripple wind development
The Defense Department already considers every wind farm proposal filed with the Federal Aviation Administration and additional regulatory efforts, such as a bill under consideration in the New York State Assembly, are unnecessary, writes Jon Powers, president of CleanCapital and Iraq War veteran. He argues that the bill would hinder wind development in the state, disrupting an industry that employs 11,000 veterans across the US.

Avangrid Renewables works to restart Calif. wind farm
Avangrid Renewables is working to resolve a problem with its Tule Wind Project in San Diego County, Calif., that caused all of the project's 57 turbines to shut down two weeks ago, said Director of Communications and Brand Art Sasse. All of the turbines are fine, and the issue has to do with an faulty underground power cable, he noted.

PSO reaches Okla. settlement deal for 2-GW Wind Catcher project
Public Service Co. of Oklahoma has reached an agreement with Oklahoma Industrial Energy Consumers and Walmart to advance its 2-gigawatt Wind Catcher Energy Connection project in Oklahoma. However, the project needs approval from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission before it can move forward.

Siemens Gamesa confirms rehiring at Iowa plant
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is looking to rehire more than 100 employees who were laid off from its Fort Madison, Iowa, turbine blade factory, according to the company. It added that it requires additional workers to begin blade production for an undisclosed project in Kansas.

Report: Mass. offshore wind could create 3,170 jobs within 10 years
Massachusetts offshore wind industry could be worth between $1.4 billion and $2.1 billion over the next decade, creating between 2,270 and 3,170 jobs in the process, according to the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. The figures are based on an installed offshore wind capacity of 1.6 gigawatts.

DTE "overwhelmingly" backs renewables, says utility CEO
Michigan utility DTE Energy is "overwhelmingly in favor of investment in renewables," says Chairman and CEO Gerry Anderson. The company recently filed its 2018 renewables plan with the Michigan Public Service Commission, which states its intent to double its installed renewable energy capacity.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has approved a request from American Electric Power subsidiary AEP Ohio to expand its wind and solar portfolio in the state. According to the proposal, AEP Ohio plans to add 500 megawatts of wind and 400 MW of solar.
