ACORE launches renewables investment goal of $1T by 2030
The American Council on Renewable Energy has introduced a new campaign through which it hopes to stimulate $1 trillion worth of investments in the US renewable energy industry by 2030. "[Renewable energy] is one of the nation's most important drivers for new investment and job creation," ACORE President and CEO Gregory Wetstone said.

Energy Dept.: Wind-energy costs fell one-third from 2010 to 2016
Technological advances, better manufacturing processes and declining installation costs resulted in a cost reduction by one-third for wind energy between 2010 and 2016, according to the Energy Department. The domestic production of wind-turbine components also increased during that period, it noted.

Apex plans $1.2B, 800-MW project in Texas
Apex Clean Energy plans to build a pair of 400-megawatt wind farms in the Texas panhandle that will have feature 260 turbines. The $1.2 billion project will likely begin operations in 2021.

E.ON's 139-turbine Radford's Run Wind Farm near Maroa, Ill., will bring in $46 million in new property-tax revenue over the next 30 years, helping to offset potential funding cuts for area schools. E.ON held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 27.

Texas county anticipates new Lincoln Clean Energy project

Vattenfall wins PPA for 72-turbine offshore-wind farm
Vattenfall has arranged a long-term power-purchase agreement with Novozymes and Novo Nordisk for its 72-turbine Kriegers Flak offshore-wind farm located off the coast of Denmark, according to the utility. The project is expected to achieve full operations by the end of 2021.

Apex Clean Energy has completed three rounds of updates and sent a final application to build its proposed Galloo Island Wind Farm in New York to the state Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment for review. The board will hold a public hearing on the proposal on Aug. 14.

Judge hears lawsuit challenging Maine's wind moratorium
A judge in Cumberland County, Maine, reviewed a lawsuit Friday challenging the decision of Gov. Paul LePage's administration to enact a moratorium on new wind development in western and coastal sections of the state. Wind-industry groups argue that the moratorium causes uncertainty in the industry.
