AWEA's Kiernan: US-China tariffs could raise wind costs by 10%
US tariffs on Chinese products could raise the cost of wind in the US by up to 10%, American Wind Energy Association CEO Tom Kiernan said Tuesday at the Wind Energy Finance & Investment Conference in New York. AWEA Senior Director for Industry Data and Analysis John Hensley says companies may be able to offset cost increases related to steel and other tariffs by seeking new suppliers.

AWEA debuts "Stop the Shock" safety campaign
The American Wind Energy Association has launched a safety initiative dubbed "Stop the Shock: Stay Current and Avoid the Current" to raise awareness about electrical safety at wind sites. AWEA says employment in the wind industry is at an all-time high, making worker safety more important than ever.

E2: L.A. is the top US city for clean energy jobs
Los Angeles, with a total of 162,688 positions, is the top city in the nation for clean energy jobs, according to a report from Environmental Entrepreneurs. With clean energy jobs totaling 136,997 and 95,287, New York and Chicago round out the top three.

Goldwind Americas has arranged financing for its 160-megawatt Rattlesnake Wind Project slated for McCulloch County, Texas. The project is expected to feature 64 Goldwind GW 109 2.5-MW PMDD machines.

NextEra Energy seeks approval for Neb. wind farm
NextEra Energy has proposed building a wind farm that would straddle Nebraska's Gage and Lancaster counties and feature up to 50 turbines. The Blue Prairie Wind Project, it says, could become operational by 2020.

EDF Renewables hopes to launch N.Y. site this month
EDP Renewables hopes to achieve first power at its Copenhagen Wind Farm in New York within two weeks, having erected 36 of the project's 40 turbines. The project will have a total capacity of 80 megawatts.

Va. governor debuts 10-year plan to bolster renewables
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam published his 2018 Virginia Energy Plan on Tuesday, outlining a 10-year trajectory for the state to increase its use of renewables and electric vehicles while updating the electrical grid. "The clean energy sector has the power to create new business opportunities, expand customer access to renewable energy and spark the high-demand jobs of the 21st century," he said.
