N.J. is committed to the success of offshore wind, official says
Offshore wind is an incredible opportunity for New Jersey, and the state's environmental protection department is "committed to providing all the necessary tools and incentives to aggressively develop this sector and position New Jersey as a leader in wind energy," said Commissioner Catherine McCabe during a supply chain information session on Thursday. Other officials and advocates praised the industry's ability to drive economic and job growth.

Opinion: US can't afford to pass on grid modernization
The US is long overdue for infrastructure modernization, and sustainable infrastructure is the way to go because clean energy sources like wind can generate jobs and stimulate economic growth while curbing greenhouse gas emissions, write Reps. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., Doris Matsui, D-Calif., and Paul Tonko, D-N.Y. "Revitalizing and updating our infrastructure is absolutely necessary for America to compete and maintain its leadership in the global economy," they argue.

BLM rejects up to 500-MW wind farm in Nev.
The Bureau of Land Management has denied Eolus' request to build the up to 500-megawatt Crescent Peak Wind Energy Project along the Nevada's border with California, citing "multiple issues and concerns" such as local mining claims.

NextEra Energy signs PPA with Air Liquide for Texas site
NextEra Energy Resources has secured a power purchase agreement from industrial gases group Air Liquide to acquire 50 megawatts of output from a project under development in Menard County, Texas. Air Liquide says the deal will ultimately help it eliminate 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to a temporary truce in their trade dispute, with the US suspending new tariffs and China agreeing to buy more US agricultural products. Texas regulators petitioned by 2 utilities to change transmission policy
Utilities Calpine and NRG Energy are requesting that the Texas Public Utility Commission change how it calculates transmission costs, switching to a model that's based on distance. If approved, observers say the change could increase the cost of wind and solar in some major cities and undo a policy that has helped the industries proliferate in the state.

State senator: Ohio needs new setbacks for wind turbines
Ohio's stringent wind setbacks bar industry development and prevent the state from taking advantage of the industry's economic and job creation benefits, writes state Sen. Matt Dolan.
