Home Depot signs wind PPA to power 40 US stores
The Home Depot has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement to acquire 15 megawatts of output from NextEra Energy Resources' 83-turbine Pretty Prairie Wind Project under development in Kansas. The PPA will provide enough electricity for 40 Home Depot locations, and the retailer says it hopes to arrange additional procurement deals for renewables by the end of 2020.

IKEA parent buys 25% stake in German offshore wind project
IKEA parent company Ingka has purchased a 25% stake in Siemens Project Ventures' 402-megawatt Veja Mate offshore wind farm in Germany. A consortium acquired additional shares for a total of 80% of the project, including Ingka's portion, leaving Siemens with the remaining 20% stake.

Report confirms wind energy is a heavy hitter
"Wind is the largest single source of zero-carbon power-generating capacity in the U.S." This fact and more were revealed Wednesday by the Business Council for Sustainable Energy in its 2019 edition of the Sustainable Energy in America Factbook. PGE, NextEra propose wind-solar hybrid in Ore.
Portland General Electric and NextEra Energy are seeking approval from the Oregon Public Utility Commission to build the Wheatridge Renewable Energy Facility. The project would feature a wind farm totaling 300 megawatts, a 50-MW solar array and storage capacity.

Wind farm will create revenue for Wyo., says NextEra exec
NextEra Energy Resources is seeking approval for the 160-turbine, 400-megawatt Cedar Springs Wind Energy Project near Casper, Wyo. The site would pay out $60 million to landowners and an additional $70 million and $50 million in property and generation taxes, respectively, Project Director Ryan Fitzpatrick said Tuesday.

Survey: Most conservatives in Ohio support renewables
Two-thirds of conservatives in Ohio support a diverse energy mix that includes renewables generating at least 50% of the state's capacity, according to the Ohio Conservative Energy Forum. "Paulding County has seen over $700 million in economic investment from three commercial wind projects since 2011," notes Paulding County Economic Development Director Jerry Zielke.

AEP purchases Sempra's wind and storage assets
An American Electric Power subsidiary has agreed to purchase Sempra Renewables' 724-megawatt portfolio of projects for about $1.06 billion. The portfolio includes seven operational wind farms in Colorado, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Minnesota.

Shell, partners to build $20.4M foundation pilot off Norway
Royal Dutch Shell, Innogy and Stiesdal Offshore Technologies are moving forward with a $20.4 million pilot project in Norway that will test a new floating foundation prototype for the offshore wind industry. The technology may lower the cost of offshore wind development.
