Excerpted from the Bernie Buzz:

2.5 Million Gallons of Discounted Oil for Vermont

In February, Congressman Sanders announced that he had brokered a deal with Citgo, an American oil company owned by Venezuela to bring more than 2.5 million gallons of discounted home heating oil into Vermont. 2.4 million gallons of the oil will be sold at a 40% discount to individual participants of Vermont’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Crisis Fuel Assistance Program, and the WARMTH Program, as well as homeless shelters. At a time when consumers are struggling to pay record-breaking gas prices, this program will help many lower-income Vermonters stay warm this winter.
