Michael Goggin: Wind, solar are an integral part of the US energy mix
Clean energy sources like wind and solar are already an important part of the US energy mix and will continue to grow as costs decline, writes Michael Goggin, vice president at Grid Strategies LLC, a strategic consulting and advocacy firm that helps clients with the integration of clean energy into the electric grid. Responding to a June op-ed by Scott Tinker, Goggin explains that clean energy sources, in fact, have a much lower environmental footprint than other options and support a diverse energy landscape.

Opinion: A carbon-dividends plan would help clean up Northern Va.
A carbon-dividends plan would help renewables compete in Northern Virginia and mitigate the high rate of carbon pollution associated with the increasingly congested area, writes Caroline Heilbrun. "Siemens USA and AES have developed some of the nation's most efficient renewable energy technologies right here in their Northern Virginia headquarters," she adds.
