Analysis: Renewables drive job creation, water conservation
Everyone knows renewables such as wind and solar are great for curbing carbon emissions, but it should be recognized that they also reduce water consumption and create thousands of jobs, write Luciano Castillo and Jay Gore of Purdue University and Walter Gutierrez of Texas Tech University. Citing Energy Department data, they also note that renewables create significantly more jobs per gigawatt-hour of generation than coal or natural gas.

Orsted exec: N.J. should use one firm per wind farm, transmission line
Developers that build wind farms off the coast of New Jersey should also be tasked with the corresponding transmission infrastructure, rather than divvying up the work among multiple firms, writes Thomas Brostrom, president of Orsted North America. Brostrom advocates a "full-scope approach," arguing that projects are more efficient when one company handles both aspects of the development process.
