Canadian media outlets were abuzz last week with reports of Canada's leap back into fourth place from eighth on the United Nations Human Development Index. Most news outlets reported that the index considered a variety of criteria, including "health, education, life expectancy, income, poverty levels and environmental quality."

Villagers sue U.S. mining company over alleged pollution
