The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is now accepting abstracts for WINDPOWER 2005 Conference and Exhibition to be held in Denver, Colorado on May 15 - 18, 2005.
Presenting a paper at WINDPOWER is a unique opportunity to be recognized as an important member of the wind energy community. WINDPOWER is the largest wind energy conference and exhibition in North America and draws over 3,600 industry leaders from across the country and abroad.

ABSTRACT TOPICS
The WINDPOWER 2005 Conference and Exhibition Program Committee has developed the following conference theme:
Wind Energy: Connecting Customers to Clean Power Today
This year's conference will include a focus on transmission and interconnection issues of wind energy projects. Each day there will be a series of technical and educational programs for which abstracts are being solicited. These programs are organized into three main topic areas or tracks; Policy, Technical and Business Tracks.
POLICY TRACK:
This track will focus on how policy can assist or hinder the industry in achieving its goals. Policy related papers are solicited in each of the following areas:
• Utility Issues: Grid Access and Transmission
• State and Regional Programs
• Definition and Control of Green Attributes
• Experience with Renewable Energy Policies
• Offshore Wind Developments: Policy and Experience
• Opportunities and Challenges in the Rocky Mountain Region
• Research and Development Policy
TECHNICAL TRACK:
This track will address the technical problems and solutions facing the industry. The focus will be on technology and how it can help the industry achieve its goals. Technical papers are solicited in each of the following areas:
• Resource Assessment and Forecasting
• Wind Turbine Design Loads: Conditions, Predictions and Measurements
• Advances in Component and Materials Technology
• Large Wind Systems
• Small Wind and Hybrid Power Systems
• Grid Interconnection, Wind Plant Modeling and Operating Impacts
• Operation, Maintenance, and Safety
• Testing, Wind Plant Performance and Operating Experience
• Emerging Applications: Storage, Hydrogen and Clean Water
BUSINESS TRACK:
This track will focus on business oriented information and approaches to achieving the industry goals. Papers are solicited in the following categories:
• Wind Power Finance and Investment
• Legal Issues
• Project Development Challenges and Solutions
• Siting and Wildlife Issues
• Developing Countries and Emerging Markets
• Wind Energy for Farms, Homes and Small Businesses
• Models for Community and Locally Owned Wind Energy
• Utility Issues: Portfolio Diversification and Business Development
