Turn Up the Heat for Bush's Inauguration Day Dear Daniel,
January 20th marks the start of President Bush's second term. Since he first took office in 2001, the impacts of global warming worldwide have continued to grow, and the list is getting longer. Global warming is the #1 environmental problem we face. As President Bush begins his second term and Congress gets back to work, send them an email supporting solutions, like the Climate Stewardship Act and tell them now is the time for action on global warming. Send a letter to the following decision maker(s):
President George W. Bush
Your Congressperson
Your Senators
Below is the sample letter: Subject: Now is the Time for Global Warming Solutions Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here], As Americans and the world mark the presidential inauguration and Congress's return, I am concerned about the lack of progress made by the American government in the last four years on the issue of global warming, one of the most serious problems America and the world now faces. The list of global warming impacts is only getting longer:
- 2004 was the 4th warmest year on record. The 10 hottest years on record have all occurred since 1990! - Record heat waves battered Europe in the summer of 2003 -- the hottest on that continent in 500 years -- and more than 26,000 people died from heat-related causes. Studies have found that global warming doubles the risk of events like the 2003 heat wave.
I write to urge you to make much needed progress in solving the problem of global warming in the next four years, and to support solutions like the Climate Stewardship Act in Congress. Sincerely,
Daniel Stafford
