| If 10,000 NY Biters replace commercially produced honey with a locally produced alternative for one year, we'll avert the weight of nearly 700 mil honey bears worth of CO2 from flying into the air. |
| | | To make 1 lb of honey, bees must travel over 55,000 mi and extract nectar from 2 mil flowers. | | |

| The Bite What's the quickest way to the honey pot? Well, flattery will get you everywhere, but for a sweeter route, try Katherine Anne Confections' silky-smooth caramels. You can really taste the local honey in these babies (a wildflower varietal from May's Honey Farm in Harvard, IL), based on a recipe Katherine started stirring up with her mom at age 10. They're also packaged in fair-trade, tree-free boxes handmade from long grass. We're big fans of the chocolate and chocolate-walnut flavors, but the vanilla ones, flecked with vanilla bean paste, really sugared us up. |
