Dear friend,
Thank you for signing the petition Michelle Obama: Stand up for Bees in the White House garden and beyond!
This issue means a lot to me and I really appreciate your support. I'm emailing you to ask you to go one step further.
Friends of the Earth and author Michele Simon just released a new report revealing how pesticide companies Bayer, Syngenta and Monsanto are using PR tricks straight out of Big Tobacco's playbook to manufacture doubt about science and fool politicians and the public into delaying action, while they make billions from bee-killing neonicotinoid (neonic) pesticides.
A growing body of science points to neonics as a key contributor to bee declines around the globe, and the European Union has already banned them. Yet, these pesticides are still widely used in the U.S. despite the massive bee die-offs threatening our vital food crops -- from almonds in California to apples in Washington.
Tomorrow, Bayer, the biggest manufacturer of neonics, will be holding its annual shareholder meeting in Germany.
Join us in a social media "swarm" on Facebook and Twitter to send a strong message that Bayer and other pesticide companies need to stop the PR spin and stop selling bee-killing pesticides. It's easy!
1) Share this image on Facebook and encourage your friends to do the same.
2) Post this message on Bayer's Facebook page: "Bayer, stop the PR spin and stop selling bee-killing pesticides"
3) Swarm Bayer's twitter feed. Click one or more of these sample tweets to make sure Bayer hears our buzz.
4.) Join our Twitter swarm. To amplify our voice, please send as many tweets as you can during our swarm tonight from 7:00-8:00pm EDT. Be sure to tweet at @Bayer or @BayerBeeCare and use the #Bayer, #BeeKiller and #BanNeonics hashtags.
Bee part of the solution! Join us on Bayer's Twitter and Bayer's Facebook pages to tell Bayer if they really care about bees, they need to stop the PR spin and stop selling bee-killing pesticides.
Not on Twitter or Facebook? Give Bayer a call at 862-404-3000.
For the bees,
Tiffany Finck-Haynes,
