AWEA, Wind Coalition to FERC: SPP's exit fee is unfair
The American Wind Energy Association and The Wind Coalition have filed a request with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission calling for the elimination of a fee the Southwest Power Pool charges members for terminating their benefits. The groups argue that the fees, which are hidden and can be as high as $1 million, deter other power producers from joining the SPP and participating in its decision-making activities.
