ORGANIC PREPARED FOODS Hungry Hungry Hip(pos)![]()
If 10,000 Chicago Biters eat organic veggies instead of conventionally grown ones once a week for a year, we'll keep 134 kiddie pools fulla pesticide-coated veggies off our plates.

Game for gobbling up more veggies? Chomp on this: Chi-based Hip Hip Purees. HHP steams, blends, and freezes organic veggies so busy types (that'd be you) or finicky kids can eat 'em before they rot. (Note: Frozen's got the same nutrient and health bennies as fresh.) Just thaw or nuke, and toss a half-cup portion (aka one veggie serving) of Cool Carrots, Rockin Broccoli, Sweetie Potatoes, or Jolly Cauliflower into pretty much anything, from soups to lasagna to our cheesy-licious corn bread (see blog). No smashing necessary.
Choosing organic vegetables keeps toxic pesticides off our farms and outta our bellies - and frozen varieties help prevent wasteful spoiling.
HHP's carrot puree pepped up our box of mac-'n'-cheese with a sweet and creamy kick.
Hip Hip Puree, available online and at Southport Grocery, 3552 N. Southport Ave. (773-665-0100). Vegetable puree, $7/4-pack.
