AWEA's Gramlich: US needs infrastructure package under next president
The next president needs to develop a comprehensive infrastructure package that considers the entire scope of the US' energy mix and allows for transmission expansion, said American Wind Energy Association Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs Rob Gramlich. "We are going to need a lot more [transmission] ... and that's especially true if and when the Clean Power Plan stay is lifted," he said.

Xcel Energy has developed a five-year plan in which it will increasingly focus on expanding its installed wind capacity and building new transmission projects throughout its service area, said Chairman, President and CEO Benjamin Fowke. "Because of the strong wind resources in our backyard, we have the unique opportunity to invest in renewable generation in which the capital costs are offset by fuel savings," he said.
