AWEA's Gramlich: Wind an economic success story for Iowa
Wind has become a key player in Iowa's economic success and continues to be an important part of its energy mix, writes American Wind Energy Association Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs Rob Gramlich. "Federal policy has been an important driver of this success. It has spurred American innovation and improved domestic manufacturing, which have helped cut the price consumers pay for wind energy by two-thirds over six years," he writes.

Analysis: Utilities face choice as corporate PPAs soar
The growing number of corporations demanding generation from renewables has left many utilities in the US with a difficult decision, to add clean energy to their already inundated grids or lose customers to third-party power purchase agreements, according to this analysis. Observers say that green tariffs, a method in which utilities acquire output from renewables and then sell it to customers that specifically want green energy, could be one solution to the problem.
