Mo. Supreme Court ruling reinvigorates Grain Belt Express
The Missouri Supreme Court ruled in favor of Clean Line Energy Partners on Tuesday, ruling that the state Public Service Commission wrongly rejected its $2.3 billion, 780-mile Grain Belt Express transmission project. Clean Line President Michael Skelly says it will resume work on the project and hopes to get it up and running by 2023 or 2024, pending regulatory approval.

Wind energy is a huge opportunity for Mass., say advocates
Officials from Environment Massachusetts and the SouthCoast Chamber of Commerce are seeking state lawmaker support for wind energy by asserting that wind energy projects can create jobs, stimulate economic development and improve air quality in the state. "We have to work together as a region to do everything we can to support those jobs," adds Rick Kidder, president of the chamber.

Deepwater eyeing 3 new East Coast offshore wind farms, says CEO
Deepwater Wind is in the early stages of developing three new offshore wind farms in the US, one that would serve Rhode Island and Connecticut, and two others off the coasts of New York and Maryland, respectively, CEO Jeff Grybowski said Monday. "We're going into a very intensive phase now, where in order to submit permit applications and begin to do the engineering and design, we will be spending tens of millions of dollars over the coming year to collect data from the wind farm locations," he said.

Midwest wind industry needs more transmission, says Duke exec
Duke Energy has canceled a request for proposals to add 500 megawatts of installed wind capacity in the Midwestern US due to a lack of transmission and other concerns, says spokesman Randy​ Wheeless. "We were thinking there would be better transportation methods than there are," adds Wheeless.

European duo forms renewables investment fund
Swiss oil trader Vitol and UK investment firm Low Carbon have launched a new investment fund that will stimulate renewable-energy development in Europe. VLC Renewables has about 200 million euros, about $233 million, in initial funding and will focus on both land-based and offshore wind projects.

Canadian province cancels hundreds of renewable-energy contracts
Ontario, Canada, has nixed 758 contracts with renewable-energy projects, including a number of wind farms that were very early in the development process. Greg Rickford, provincial minister of energy, mines, northern development and indigenous affairs, says the decision will save ratepayers money.
