IREC webinar on 9/21:  community solar

The next Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) webinar will be held Tuesday, September 21, at 2pm EDT (1pm CDT, noon MDT, 11am PDT, 10am Alaska, 8am Hawaii) on Community Solar.  The seminar will last for 1 hour and 15 minutes.  There is no fee to attend this webinar, but pre-registration is required.

Many utility ratepayers, such as renters or customers with shaded roofs, are unable to participate in solar energy programs because they are unable to host an on-site solar energy system.  These same ratepayers contribute to successful state-level renewables programs and have strong desire to green their energy supply. Some states and utilities are beginning to address this program gap through well-designed community solar programs that allow these customers to participate in a system hosted at another location.  In a successful community solar program, customers are allowed to receive the financial benefits of investing in a system even though the system is not located on their home or business.

As part of IREC's mission to build sustainable markets for renewable energy, IREC has assisted stakeholders in developing community renewables programs that expand access to solar beyond the successful onsite renewables markets. IREC's policy recommendations and review of State Policies are included in the upcoming Community Solar Guidebook sponsored by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.  The guidebook offers project design and planning advice, as well as examples of successful projects.
Learn from IREC and NW SEED experts about how states are implementing community solar programs and get a sneak preview of the updated Community Solar Guidebook, due out in October.
