Mary Lauran Hall to Join Alliance for Biking & Walking
as Communications Manager

Washington, DC - December 19, 2012 - The Alliance for Biking & Walking

is pleased to welcome Mary Lauran Hall as our new Communications Manager. Hall will begin supporting communications for the coalition of more than 200 North American bicycling and walking advocacy groups starting on January 2, 2013.

Mary Lauran Hall will assume the role of Communications Manager in January 2013

Hall comes to the Alliance from America Bikes - the coalition of national bike advocacy organizations working to ensure an increased role for bicycling - where she organized press outreach, social media, web site development, and strategic communications.  She will continue to work with and support the America Bikes coalition for communications and other coalition coordination.

"Mary Lauran has played many important roles at America Bikes, including some important coordination with state and local leaders and organizations on the Federal transportation reauthorization and subsequent education and guidance," said Jeffrey Miller, President / CEO of the Alliance for Biking & Walking. "She has worked closely with the board of America Bikes and many other leaders of national organizations and Alliance organizations. It's clear that Mary Lauran has gained a strong appreciation for the work of the Alliance and our members in making improvements on the ground and influencing national campaigns. I am delighted that Mary Lauran will be joining our staff team and bringing her communications skills, social media savvy, analytical experience and passion for our movement."

"Congratulations to Mary Lauran on her new role," said Caron Whitaker, Vice President of Government Relations at the League of America Bicyclists (formerly Campaign Director at America Bikes.) "One of Mary Lauran's main tenets has been that we better connect with local advocacy, ensuring that we are communicating and working in sync. I am pleased to know that her passion and savvy will stay with the bicycling and walking movement as she moves over to the Alliance. I am personally thrilled that Mary Lauran and I will continue to work together as part of the America Bikes coalition."

In the coming year, the Alliance will continue its work to create better communities for biking and walking by building the capacity of state and local advocacy organizations and by engaging grassroots leaders in national campaigns.
