School District Says Its Saving Money with Biodiesel — and other resources you can share with school decision makers

Dear Biodiesel Alliance-Backers Supporters:
What's inside?...

Michigan school district saves money by using biodiesel
School Bus Fleet magazine offers recommendations for biodiesel use
School bus fleets receive federal EPA funds to use biodiesel

As school districts across the country are making decisions regarding school bus fleet fuel use I am pleased to connect you to two recent articles that profile, in school district officials’ own words, how biodiesel is helping save money in a growing number of school bus fleets across the nation. At the same time they're saving money, they are reporting they can achieve immediate health and environmental benefits, reducing exposure to harmful diesel exhausts while experiencing enhanced engine performance and improved efficiencies. The first school district in Michigan to switch its entire bus fleet to B20 reports the switch to biodiesel has saved them money. The fleet for the St. John's, Michigan has already logged one million miles on the alternative fuel. The school district realized health and environmental benefits without making any engine modifications or experiencing any operating problems. Maintenance records show that the district has saved money! School districts in New Jersey, Colorado, Nevada and Michigan report on real-world experiences as they lead the way for a growing number of school districts to experience the benefits of using biodiesel. School Bus Fleet magazine reports on what school bus fleet managers need to know about biodiesel use. Finally, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced the winners of the 2004 Clean School Bus USA grant awards. Five school districts received federal grants for the use of biodiesel. To learn more about these exciting developments in school districts across the country, go to School Districts Are Using Biodiesel. We hope these are timely resources and will be of value to those making purchasing decisions right now. As a biodiesel supporter, you can help by sharing these articles with your local school district. Your community’s children will be the true winners.

Sincerely,

Joe Jobe,
