| | | | | Dear Daniel, Climate wins don't come much bigger. How big? On Tuesday, the leaders of the world's two biggest carbon polluters, US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping announced a historic agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. So what's next? Ethan Spaner, our Climate Policy Associate, explains in our blog, The Message From the US and China is Clear: Now is the Time to Act on Climate. The timing of the announcement couldn't be more critical. In December 2015, world leaders will meet in Paris to finalize a global agreement on carbon reduction. With the world's two economic superpowers committing to work together and take real action now, the agreement sends an unmistakable message to leaders around the planet: it's time to get serious, get on board, and end climate change once and for all. Make no mistake: there is still hard work ahead of us to bring leaders from other key nations like India, South Africa, Brazil, and Australia together and commit to reducing their emissions in Paris. But with President Obama and President Xi taking bold steps forward, the strong international agreement on climate action we need becomes possible. This is #ClimateHope. This is the opportunity we've been waiting for. Let's seize it. Thanks for everything you do The Climate Reality Team | |
