New York state needs to build more transmission lines linking wind farms and solar projects in the northern and western parts of the state to the New York City-Long Island area if the state wants to meet Gov. Andrew Cuomo's 50% by 2030 renewable energy goal, according to the New York Independent System Operator. Since transmission projects take time to build, developers should start working together now to meet the state's 2030 goal, it said.

Toymaker Lego has met its 100% renewable energy goal three years ahead of schedule, according to the company. It attributed its success, in part, to the launch of the 258-megawatt Burbo Bank Extension Offshore wind project off the coast of England, in which its parent company, KIRKBI, owns a 25% stake in.

AWEA's Community Engagement Seminar series: Let's learn from each other
Ask any wind farm developer, and they'll tell you the most successful projects are in communities that want them. And a lot of communities do, as there are wind farms in 41 out of 50 states, supporting well-paying jobs and investing billions of dollars in rural communities.
