Report: Renewables outweigh nuclear in more than 50% of states
At least half of the states in the US rely more on renewables for electricity than nuclear, and one-third also rely on sources like wind and solar more than coal, according to SUN DAY. The report says the Trump administration's proposal to bail out nuclear and coal-burning power plants is unnecessary and that the transition toward renewables has too much momentum to stop now.

Wind is a powerful economic driver in Iowa, says MidAmerican
Wind energy is an important part of Iowa's economy that infuses revenue into rural communities, attracts major business investments and reduces utility costs, says MidAmerican Energy. MidAmerican is facing local pushback over plans to erect 52 turbines in Madison County, but says it has received strong support in 27 counties total, allowing it to build 2,200 turbines in the state.

Mass. utilities file rate agreement for 800-MW offshore wind farm
Three Massachusetts utilities have negotiated rate agreements with Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' 800-megawatt Vineyard offshore wind project and submitted the contracts to state regulators for review. Bloomberg NEF analyst Tom Harries says the contracts, which could save ratepayers about $1.4 billion over a 20-year period, are lower than expected and will likely help more projects take off.
