Fighting global warming could boost U.S. economy, scientist group argues

We can address global warming without hurting the economy, according to the president of the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Rather, aggressively addressing the causes of global warming - electricity generation, transportation and deforestation - would produce benefits that would be enjoyed in all sectors of the economy, said Kevin Knobloch.

His position runs counter to the stance taken by President Bush and his administration, which rejected the international Kyoto accords on global warming as harmful to the nation's economy.
