Total Homeland Insecurity

By Dan Stafford 10/05/2005

It’s really ridiculous to speak of Homeland Security under George Bush. There is no such thing due to complete incompetence and greed.

While our military ground forces and significant air forces are tied up in Iraq, up to and including critical National Guard troops, who is defending U.S. soil?

Right now our Southern border states are in chaos due to two natural disasters. Who is watching the shores of the U.S.? If an invader attempted to attack the U.S. now today, they would find:

-1. A country with the heart of it’s military tied up on the other side of the world.
-2. A country whose border patrols are weak to the point of ineffectiveness. (Look how many people manage to "immigrate" across it without a peep to the "legitemate" government every year.)
-3. A country whose manufacturing base is critically weakened by trade laws that favor importing everything from cheap overseas labor. (If there’s an invasion, better hope your microwave, TV, washing machine, etc don’t break down or suffer battle damage. Also, the U.S. military is facing a shortage of bullets due to Iraq and is having to import them.)
-4. A country whose domestic energy infrastructure is at only 70% capacity and whose domestic economy is teetering on the brink of energy collapse.
-5. A country whose population is far removed from being able to produce it’s own food and clothing and shelter without an "extended suplly line" even inside the U.S.

Who is watching the homefront? If the U.S. were forced to resort to nuclear weapons because it’s military infrastructure is over-reached with the idiocy in Iraq, any aggressor would likely respond in kind.

Our military is not structured for a protracted ground war. This has been well proven in how long the "insurgency" in Iraq has been able to continously mount attacks against U.S. forces. If they aren’t configured to fight a long-term ground war overseas, how are they in any way ready to do so here on our own soil?

When you get too greedy and reach for things that do not belong to you, don’t be surprised if someone tries to cut your arm off.

This is leadership? This is securing the country? This is insane and treasonous.
