Small Changes Add Up
Greening your polish will keep some of the 10,000 chems used by the nail polish industry out of the waste stream.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts there will be 100,000 manicurists and pedicurists by 2016, a 30% jump from 2006.

Can’t predict the right color for those unpolished fingers and toes? Screw the crystal ball. At least your future mani/pedi treatments can (ahem, will) be fume-free and vegan. The nail techs at MySpa, the Fairmont Hotel’s new luxe spa oasis, use strictly Spa Ritual products and polishes - all free of cancer-linked chems such as formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP. The best part? Instead of puzzling over a rack of bottles, you can look into your future (hue) by drawing from a Tarot card-style color deck (that includes numerology and philosophy, natch). We adored our 60-min Journey Pedicure, compl ete with foot masque and biodegradable flips, and when it came to polish time (Jet Setter gold or Devil Inside red?), we let the cards decide.

MySpa, Fairmont Hotel, 200 N. Columbus Dr. at Water St. (312-946-8945). Journey Pedicure, $65.
