New Berlin's request for lake water approved, a first under Great Lakes Compact

COMMENTARY: Michigan DNR trying to simplify regulations

A decade ago, the Department of Natural Resources "streamlined" trout fishing regulations. The simplification set up a dozen different sorts of trout habitat, and for each variety, one set of regulations. Twelve sets of trout-fishing regulations? Right. Too much. All Trent-Severn Waterway locks open this weekend

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn recently outlined a “Doomsday scenario” should the General Assembly not endorse tax and fee increases in his proposed budget.
